Workforce learning & practice improvement
Strengthening Child Welfare Practice
Leadership-developed learning on engagement, assessment, service planning, documentation, and supervisory consultation.
The practice question
Strong child-welfare decisions depend on more than completing required tasks. Staff need to connect engagement, information gathering, service response, transition planning, and documentation to the central questions of safety and well-being.
The approach
The session applies an equity lens to staff interactions and practice decisions, then examines family engagement, focused probing, collateral contacts, matched services, timely follow-through, warm handoffs, supervision, and objective documentation.
The contribution
A practical learning structure that treats engagement as a safety tool, documentation as part of professional reasoning, and supervision as active guidance for sound decision-making.
