DREAM: Reimagining & Empowering Access to Mindfulness
A twelve-week, DBT-informed psychoeducational group developed collaboratively for accessible and affirming skills learning.
The practice question
Participants need more than definitions of behavioral-health concepts. They need a structured space to practice skills, connect the material to their lives, and identify accommodations that support participation.
The approach
The curriculum organizes mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, self-acceptance, problem solving, resilience, and future planning into weekly discussion, practice, reflection, and workbook activities.
The contribution
A substantial group-learning design that adapts DBT principles for accessibility, neurodiversity, LGBTQIA+ affirmation, mutual understanding, and continued use beyond the group.
